Tra le più importanti iniziative “solidali”, all"interno di Mi Japan for Japan 2011, il progetto “Sanrio for Smiles Exhibition”, curato da Christian Gancitano. Più di venti artisti internazionali, appartenenti a diverse correnti e linguaggi New Pop e Pop surrealisti (tra le quali il Micropop giapponese) reinterpretano i personaggi di Sanrio inserendoli come soggetto della propria opera. Il ricavato, dalla vendita delle opere, andrà interamente devoluto da Sanrio Foundation alla Croce Rossa giapponese.

Sanrio Foundation is proud to announce its participation at Mi Japan <http://mijapan.net/> , a festival dedicated to Japanese culture in Milan. “Sanrio For Smiles Exhibition” is a project involving international artists presented at the event. All the proceeds from the sales of the artworks will be donated to Japanese Red Cross Earthquake and Tsunami relief efforts.
This year’s edition is called “Mi Japan for Japan” and the main aim is to rise founds for the victims of tsunami, which took place in Northern Japan on March 11th.
Sanrio Foundation is contributing with “Sanrio For Smiles Exhibition” curated by Christian Gancitano. The show involves more then twenty contemporary international artists who are reinterpreting different Sanrio characters. All the proceeds from the sales will be donated to Japanese Red Cross Earthquake and Tsunami relief efforts.
The exhibition is a part of bigger project called “Sanrio For Smiles”, which comes from a design created remarkably after the Tsunami disaster by Sanrio Japan. The design shows Hello Kitty with My Melody, Chococat, Cinnamoroll and the Little Twin Stars placed together on the Japanese flag as they fly in “super hero” style to bring joy and smiles.
Sanrio Foundation will use “Sanrio For Smiles” design to produce limited edition items with selected licensees to be sold in the EMEA territories for the whole 2011. All the profits from the sales will be donated to Japanese Red Cross.
